Special Session on Smart Image Processing on High-Fidelity Sensing and Display System

Abstract: With the advancement of modern sensing technologies, we can acquire measurements more effectively and efficiently for data of various modalities. The latest end-user display technologies also enable the re-producing and consuming those high fidelity information in various applications. However, those new sensing and display systems also bring challenges for image processing process, such as higher volume of data rate, higher precision of signal representation, and higher sensitivity of distortion. The existing signal processing method is not sufficient to handle those new requirements. In order to achieve high-quality signal reconstruction and rendering, smart signal processing is needed in the entire end-to-end imaging pipeline. This special session invites original work on the algorithmic and applied research on smart image processing and smart sensing and consume systems.
Topics may include, but are not limited to:
i) adaptive signal processing, adaptive image/video processing, machine-learning based signal processing;
ii) high dynamic range image/video, high frame rate video, high resolution video (8k) video processing, high precision image processing/analysis;
iii) end-to-end system for sensing, signal processing, and display devices design;
iv) smart signal representation and compression;
v) quality metric for end-user experience.
